Project: Loft conversion
Location: Harp Meadow Lane, Colchester, Essex
Loft conversions not only make the best use of wasted space but provide the high levels of insulation that are now required. Additionally, they often have a dramatic effect on reducing heating bills.
Harp Meadow Lane is one of a number of design and build loft conversions that Wright Ruffell (Sturricks) Ltd have recently undertaken. Our remit was to assess the project for planning permission and obtain this, then to undertake the building regulations including provision of the structural engineering elements to achieve the clients objectives of accommodating two good sized rooms within the existing attic through the use of ply box beams, thus avoiding the need for steel beams, wherever possible. Winder staircases were installed with lights in the strings and metal balustrade to give a really modern feel.
Following the successful completion of this project, Wright Ruffell Sturricks Ltd are now providing the client with services relating to alteration and extensions to the kitchen, dining area and garden room together with external works. Our brief is to design in order to best accommodate their needs whilst keeping in line with affordability.
