Project: Swimming pool and jacuzzi enclosure
Location: Hewitts, Lamarsh, Bures, Suffolk
Another design and build project, the client purchased a Grade 2 listed thatched building with outdoor swimming pool and jacuzzi. The requirement was to build an enclosure for these that would be in keeping with the existing listed building and surrounding environment.
Wright Ruffell (Sturricks) Ltd designed an cropped hip “Essex Barn” externally with red brick plinth, blackened Essex boarding and softwood windows and doors to the walls and clay pantiles to the roof. Internally, a more Scandinavian feel with whitewashed rendered walls, boarding to the ceilings and roof lights allow light to stream into the swimming and relaxation areas.
As a testament to the build quality, Wright Ruffell (Sturricks) Ltd received many comments from local residents who said that the building, on completion, looked as if it had been there for over 100 years.
